The shift from manual to motorised The transition began in the south — Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh — where labour scarcity pushed farmers toward automation. Battery sprayers, initially considered a luxury, quickly became standard equipment as their payback period dropped below one season.
What the data says Field trials conducted by our BDE team across Telangana in 2023 showed a 31% reduction in chemical usage when switching from manual to motorised sprayers, simply because uniform coverage eliminated the instinct to over-spray.
HTP and power sprayers for larger holdings For orchards and vineyards above 5 acres, high-pressure turbine (HTP) sprayers with 50-metre braided hoses are the new benchmark. A single operator can cover 8–10 acres per day with consistent foliage penetration — something no backpack sprayer can match.
The direction is clear: mechanisation is no longer optional for competitive Indian farming.
