Battery sprayers are one of the most important tools in a modern farmer's kit. With proper care, they can last 2–3 seasons without a single performance dip. Here's how.
1. Always drain the tank after use Leaving chemical solution inside the tank corrodes seals and nozzles. Flush with clean water after every spray session, especially after using fertiliser blends.
2. Charge correctly — never overcharge Use only the supplied charger. Charge until the indicator turns green, then unplug. Leaving the charger connected overnight shortens battery life significantly.
3. Inspect the lance and nozzle weekly Blockages at the nozzle cause pressure imbalance and motor strain. Run clean water through at full pressure to clear any residue, and replace brass nozzles annually.
4. Store upright, out of direct sun UV and heat degrade the tank material and the battery cells. Store your sprayer in a shaded, ventilated space — ideally hung on a hook to prevent seal deformation.
5. Service the motor every 200 operating hours At 200 hours, open the motor housing and inspect the brushes. Replace if worn to less than 5mm. A ₹150 brush kit extends motor life by another 300+ hours.
